Community Park Design Concepts
The National Park Service, Dixie Fire Collaborative, and Plumas County have been working on a new park for Greenville called Wolf Creek Community Park. Past feedback from the community indicated that some of the things people want for the park include elements such as:
- Gathering spaces with picnic tables, benches
- An event space for markets, food trucks, performances, etc
- Play areas
- Walking paths or trails
- Bike-focused areas like a pump track or skill-building trails
- Connections to Wolf Creek
Two different park design concepts have developed with these and other features. Now we want to hear from the community on which of the key elements you prefer the most. The Dixie Fire Collaborative is collecting feedback from the community through August 9, 2024.
Please review the conceptual designs below and then take the survey to share your preferences!
The map above displays the existing conditions of the proposed project area.
Wolf Creek Park - Concept A
This concept features a concrete plaza that serves as an event space and is open to Crescent Street, with a large center mound and tree wells. This concept has traditional playground structures, a half basketball court, and an asphalt pump track. Both concepts include gazebos, picnic tables, restrooms, signage, outdoor classroom, and a memorial.
Wolf Creek Park - Concept B
This concept features an open, grassy field as a flexible event space. The park has a pedestrian scale artistic gateway as an entry point. This concept has nature play areas by the parking lot and along the western loop of the walking trail, and a natural surface bike trail with skill building features. Both concepts include gazebos, picnic tables, restrooms, signage, outdoor classroom, and a memorial.
The display above shows some of the major differences in design elements between the two conceptual options. You can tell us your preferences among these or other ideas in the survey below.
